How do I register my child?
Please visit FFYSA.org and click on the Registration Info link. The registration fee is $85.
When I go to register, I have multiple options. In which league should I register my child?
FFYSA operates four softball leagues and five baseball leagues, covering ages 3 through 13+. However, some leagues may be consolidated or combined depending on participation. Our registration portal will provide you with multiple league options, but please don’t be alarmed or confused. Simply use your best judgment when registering, and rest assured that players will be assigned to the appropriate league based on their age, skill level, experience, and in some cases, player safety.
What if I don’t have a copy of my child’s birth certificate or proof of residency? Can I still complete the registration?
Yes, you can still register your child without uploading a birth certificate or proof of residency. As long as your payment is processed, your registration will be complete.
What does the $85 registration fee cover?
The registration fee helps cover the costs of uniforms, team equipment, and other operational expenses. Softball uniforms include a team jersey and socks, while baseball uniforms include a team jersey and hat. Teams will also be provided with helmets, catcher’s gear, and practice balls.
Is financial assistance available?
Yes, financial assistance is available through the Student Yes Card Program, which can be used for registration. Additionally, we have private donations and a scholarship program administered by the City of Frankfort to help eligible participants with registration fees. Please contact us at [email protected] for more information.
What if there isn’t enough participation for my child’s age group?
If we do not have enough participation for a particular age group, we will attempt to place your child in a different league, provided it complies with Little League age rules and safety standards. If no league is available for your child’s age group, you will receive a full refund.
Can I register my child to play up or down an age group?
Players will primarily be assigned to leagues based on their age. However, if it is in the best interest of player safety or fair competition, players may be moved up or down one age group based on skill level or experience. Decisions will be made by the Board in consultation with the League Commissioner and President.
Can I choose the coach for whom my child will play?
Coaches will go through a draft process each year based on registrations and their draft showcase performances (for older leagues). While requests to be placed on specific teams due to family relationships, transportation issues, or other valid reasons may be considered, they will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The Board will evaluate these requests to ensure fair competition and balanced teams.
How can I sign up to coach or assist with coaching?
If you're registering a player, you can volunteer to coach at the time of registration. If you're not registering a player or have additional questions, please contact [email protected] for baseball and [email protected] for softball.
Can I keep my team from last season?
New rosters will be created each season through an open draft. In future seasons, the Board, in consultation with league commissioners and presidents, may implement draft rules that allow for teams to remain intact.
What if I can’t attend the draft showcase (as a player or coach)?
If you cannot attend the draft showcase (March 16, 22, or 23), your child will still be included in the draft. Coaches will have access to evaluations based on player performance and feedback from parents and former coaches.
Can I sign my child up if I live outside of Franklin County?
Yes, children who live in adjacent counties without a Little League-affiliated league are eligible to participate, as long as they meet the age requirements.
